Our History
A Legacy Across Three Generations
Kobac General Trading Company is a third-generation family business rooted in the wild harvesting of natural gum resins across Somalia. The journey began with our grandfather, Muhumed Mahaad Omar, who started the business as a small traditional enterprise built on trust, hard work, and deep knowledge of natural resins.
The business was later entrusted to his son, Iidow Muhumed Mahaad, who guided Kobac into a semi-modern trading operation, expanding its reach and strengthening its foundations.
Today, the legacy continues under Hassan Idow Muhumed, who transformed Kobac into a modern global brand through innovation, knowledge, and sustainable business practices.
Under the current generation, and beyond its flagship brand, Hassan Kobac Frankincense & Myrrh, Kobac has expanded into several sectors and economies, including:
- Foodstuff through Kobac LifeBridge
- Real Estate through Kobac Construction Company and Kobac Apartments
- Livestock and Agriculture through Kobac Livestock Enterprise
- Petroleum and related trade ventures
Kobac also continues to serve humanity through its charitable arm, the Hassan Kobac Foundation.
Kobac is now internationally recognized for its ethical sourcing, sustainability, and premium-quality products which are FairWild, including:
- Frankincense Resins
- Myrrh Resins
- Opoponax Resins
- Frankincense Essential Oils
- Myrrh Essential Oils
From humble beginnings in Somalia to serving global markets, Kobac General Trading Company proudly carries forward a legacy of quality, heritage, and integrity.
